Faith Plus Nothing

Dear Friends - Submitted by Iris

Well, 2019 has ended. One comforting thing about the changing calendar is the knowledge that we are one year closer to being taken to Glory. It could be one month from today or maybe even as little as one week, or perhaps even a day!  It is not for us to know the time, but only to be ready.

Our Thanksgiving was a quiet one. We drove down the valley 3 ½ miles to the home of our grandson, Zack, and his wife and two sons. They now live where our daughter, Laura, lived and raised her family before her passing in 2017.  It came to mind as we went; it was only the third time Les had been away from home in 2019.  He has only driven three short trips due to his dizziness. For our Thanksgiving dinner, I was honored to prepare the turkey, dressing, and gravy. Our son, Greg, with his family (including his two young grandsons) came with sweet potatoes, and lovely mashed potatoes. Zack and Kara cooked the rest of the wonderful meal. We missed our granddaughter, Tara (Laura’s daughter) and her family. They live three hours away in Northern Oklahoma and have a farm and many goats to care for. This tells you we have a small family here in Oklahoma. We see our son who lives in Maple, Wisconsin about twice a year. Todd and Kim have five sons and one daughter.  Their daughter is married and has one son and is expecting in April. If you tally up the boys in our family, we have two sons, seven grandsons, and so far, six great-grandsons. It seems the Lord wants to carry on the Feldick name! We pray that they, along with our two granddaughters will carry out our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We look forward to sharing another meal with family at Christmas and spending time in prayer for all of our friends and family…including all of you! – Love, Iris

What in the World

The older I get, the more I’m convinced that you can’t understand scripture unless you rightly divide according to II Timothy 2:15. The first word is STUDY, not just read.  Compare scripture with scripture, rightly dividing the Word. Just what does that mean?  Exactly what it says. As you read the Old Testament, keep in mind it is to and about Israel, as were the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and the little epistles at the end (James, Peter, John and Jude). We are not Israel, we are the ones to whom God has given Paul’s Gospel of Grace, I Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Although it is primarily the Gentile Gospel, under Grace, it is for Israel as well. Until we are taken in the rapture, it is our responsibility to proclaim Christ crucified, buried and risen again to the world. How that Christ died for our sins and was raised from the dead I Corinthians 15:20… But, now! Remember, the cross is the high point of salvation, but without resurrection, it goes for nothing!

Office Note

We are thankful to our wonderful donors for keeping “Through the Bible” and the Salvation message on air and available to the masses. You are a vital part of this ministry. Without you, LFM would not exist! We sometimes receive questions regarding how funds are used by the ministry. As has always been the case, donations are used to pay for TV and Radio airtime. Even though there have been no new programs produced in several years (the last taping was in 2009) the ministry still must pay for each half hour segment (excluding a couple of public access stations) airing on TV or radio. When we accumulate excess funds, they go to purchase more airtime. Since it takes a while for programming in new markets to pay for itself (the general rule is one year) it is necessary to have a little cushion when adding new programming. Otherwise, we would have to drop stations, and that is the last thing that the ministry wants to do.

Any profit from sales goes to pay for the office facility, equipment, utilities and staff as well as the other missions we support. Some of our missions include sending free materials to the blind, prison inmates and chaplains, military chaplains, and missionaries. We also support a few other ministries which we feel are making an important impact.

We prayerfully support and encourage our friends who feel led to produce their own materials such as books, DVDs, charts, tracts, etc. and may occasionally print articles by others in our newsletter. However, the ministry can’t endorse the projects of others, partially because if we started, there would be no end to it. Les routinely receives materials from people requesting that he proof and/or endorse them. Les Feldick Ministries is not a publishing company, nor do we desire to be. We could literally fill our newsletter completely with this information and Les could spend all his waking hours reading or watching what he receives.  Another reason is because we may not agree on every topic of teaching. We don’t think it’s necessary for believers to agree 100% on every aspect of scripture other than the Gospel and doctrine for the church in the age of grace. However, it can cause confusion if ministries who teach differently link up. We don’t wish to hurt or offend any of our brothers and sisters in Christ, but this is a necessary policy that we must uphold in order to prevent confusion for those who may not yet have a good understanding.

On that note, as we have mentioned, there are no LFM social media sites maintained by the ministry. We only ask that if you participate in a group on any social media that bears the name of Les Feldick Ministries, please treat one another with respect and kindness as all believers should. Fellowship is a good and important thing! Just remember that we as believers are not all on the same level and the last thing we want to be is a stumbling block to those who are new or searching.

Finally, we ask that you refrain from leaving flyers, tracts, cards, or other materials promoting the ministry on people’s cars, in doors, mailboxes, etc. Although we are confident that those who do it have the best of intentions, it tends to have a negative effect on the ministry. Not to mention it’s illegal in many cases.

Galatians Chapter 6

Maybe you have noticed that Les did not cover Chapter 6 of Galatians? This was not intentional and Les has mentioned before that it is largely summarizing the first five chapters. Paul emphasizes sacrificial service, especially regarding our fellow believers. He admonishes believers to be humble in all things and glory only in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 6:14) as he himself did. Mostly, he is continuing to undo the damage that the Judaizers had done to the new believers in Galatia. It is ironic that today we still struggle against those who would try to bring us back under the bondage of the law when we have so much better… Salvation by Grace through Faith!!

Prayer Changes Things

A new year is a perfect opportunity for a renewed devotion to study and prayer!  Les answered how to study in the “What in the World” segment. How are we to pray according to scripture?

Always / Without Ceasing ~ I Thessalonians 5:17, and Philemon 1:4

With thankfulness ~ Philippians 4:6, I Thessalonians 5:18

To God through the Lord Jesus ~ Romans 1:8, Ephesians 1:1, Philippians 2:9-11

For brothers and sisters in Christ ~ Ephesians 1:15-17

Asking for prayers on our behalf ~ Romans 15:30, II Corinthians 1:11, Ephesians 3:14-17

For leaders ~ I Timothy 2:2

For spiritual strength ~ Ephesians 1:3 & 3:16

Recipe for Life

Mix thoroughly; add tears of joy, sorrow and sympathy for others. Fold in 4 cups of prayer and faith to lighten other ingredients and let rise to great heights of Christian living. After pouring all this into your family life, bake well with the warmth of human kindness. Serve with a smile!
