Note from Les
Dear Friends,
Another 3 months has slipped away and we are just that much closer to the Blessed Hope of Titus 2:13 and we are 3 months older. However don’t let anyone tell you we have retired. It seems we put more hours in ministry work now than we ever did before! We are covered up with phone calls, letters with questions and tons of visitors from all 48 states! Fortunately our health is holding. No chest pains or shortness of breath!
First of all thank you, thank you, for all your prayers, your “filled with love” letters and your literal financial help. Thank you also for being so mindful of our Oklahoma weather, but we are not in “Tornado Alley”. That is over around Oklahoma City. We are over in eastern Oklahoma close to the Arkansas line and after 41 years we can claim to have never seen a funnel cloud!
So many times folks refer to our “volunteers”. Early on, yes our book keeper was a volunteer, but years ago we began hiring from outside the ministry and we pay a good range of salary as compared with our local businesses. But our employees are top of the line. Often times they work well beyond 5 O’clock and on Holidays. They love the Lord and we love them.
Also many of you realize Iris is past 84 and I am now 89. What happens to the ministry if the Lord tarries and we go the way of the funeral home? Not to worry! They will never miss us. A couple of our girls have been handling all TV business for many, many years - the contracting, bill paying etc. Again thank you for everything and we continue to uphold you in the throne room.
What in the World
To some of you I will sound like a “broken record” (33 rpm), but if my phone calls are any indication, very few, even Bible students, understand what we mean by Rightly Dividing the Scriptures according to II Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
As introduction, I would like to share a phone call. The gentleman had a question on one of the Parables. I responded “So you are a Pharisee?” He said “No! I am not a Pharisee. Why do you ask that?” I told him to look up Matthew 21:45 (And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.) and to read it to me. He read it and in stark shock he exclaimed, “I‘ve never seen that that before! The Parables were addressed to the Pharisees?” That is a perfect example of Rightly Dividing. When you read the Parables, realize they were intended primarily for Israel’s Religious leaders!
Consequently, we cannot mix them in with Paul’s Epistles! Another good, plain example is Leviticus 5:5-6 And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing: And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin. That is what the Bible says. But do we obey verse 6? Of course not! It is not addressed to us Gentiles and neither are the 4 gospels or the first 8 chapters of Acts. It is all addressed to Israel. Acts 2:22 “Ye men of Israel…” Acts 2:23 “Let all the house of Israel,” and in Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour and Acts 11:19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
Now let’s see the stark difference in the language of our Apostle. Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel and Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: Lets start with Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began. Read it carefully … Whose Gospel? My Gospel and how long did God keep Paul’s gospel secret? Since time began, until Paul’s revelation. And how does Paul put it in the very next verse? BUT NOW! So here is the great Divide!
Laura's Note
What a mess this world is in! Oh well. I keep telling myself not to let it get to me because someday in heaven everything will be perfect! :-). Not only will we have perfect bodies and perfect love one towards another but our environment is going to be absolutely perfect. I don't know if we will stay busy keeping things nice like Adam did when he was put in the garden or if things will just automatically stay nice... Either way, I know things are going to be absolutely lovely. Don't you wonder if heaven is going to have some of the things that earth has – like green grass and green trees??? I certainly tend to think so because I believe the garden of Eden was a small copy of heaven – something God found good enough to enjoy every evening when he came down to walk and talk with Adam and Eve. But, who knows? All we know for sure is the Bible tells us it is going to be good and we have to take that by faith. It takes alot of faith to believe every word of the Bible, doesn't it? I mean really! To believe in a God who knows everything, to believe in a heaven and a rapture and everything else that is in God's word!!?! It definitely takes a lot of faith! And yet, I thank God that , somehow, I do have the faith it takes to believe – not only that he died for me, was buried and rose again, but everything else that is written in HIs word. And so, I believe in the rapture and the heaven that waits for me – it is my blessed hope :-).
Helpful hint/mental crutch for remembering the order of some of Paul's letters: G.E. Power Co.--will help you remember Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians.
Then just remember that the "T "books are in alphabetical order. First and second Thessalonians, then first and second Timothy and then Titus.
Every so often, we get people asking us what the opening theme song to the program is. We obtained permission to use "Return Unto Thy Rest", written by Charles Monroe and have used this song since the very first program in October 1990.
Attention
Several people have complained that their cable TV stations dropped ION. The Remedy? Call your cable station and let them know you are not happy. It only takes a few upset callers to make them change it back. But you have to be heard!
Special Offer
From July 1 through October 1 we are offering a special on the books that Les will be teaching during those months. In response to many requests, we are making a short note on the covenants. There are seven in all, two before the appearance of Israel and five afterwards. A covenant begins and ends with God himself. Mankind cannot interfere with them or break them!
Adamic – Genesis 3:15
Noahic– Genesis 9:1
Abrahamic – Genesis 12:1-3 and Genesis 15:18
Mosaic – Exodus 19:25
Land – Deuteronomy 30:3
Davidic - 2 Samuel 7:16
New - Jeremiah 31:31
Israel and the Gentiles. Jesus and the Kingdom Gospel was epitomized by Peter’s Confession in Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Paul’s gospel is I Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Along with Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. So now, if you are sitting under constant preaching from everything except Paul’s epistles, you are in danger of missing heaven’s glory! So, we constantly plead with all who will listen, Rightly Divide the Scriptures.
End Time Comments by Les
Read Psalms 83, Ezekiel 35, and Ezekiel 38, in that order, for the final days of the Muslim world. Read II Timothy 3:1–5 for the final days for those of us believers in the body of Christ. p>
Note from Iris
We get a lot of letters asking how we are to pray for ourselves according to what Scripture says so I have a story to tell you that perhaps you can profit from as I have. My learning on how to pray came from my dear husband and the teaching found in book 36, lesson one part three – page 22 and 23 – which is where Les was teaching on Ephesians 1:16-18. Cease not to give thanks for you in my prayers that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of glory may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened … also in book 40, page 76, in the teaching of Colossians 1:9 – For this cause we also since the day we heard it do not cease to pray for you and desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.
Also some scripture in Proverbs include Proverbs 1:1-4, Proverbs 2:5-7, Proverbs 3:19, 20, Proverbs 4:1, 5, 7, 11 & Proverbs 5 1:2.
It's enough to boggle the mind how many portions of Scripture there are relating to prayer but with the Lord’s help, all things are possible through Christ Jesus our Lord. And of course our favorite scripture to cling to is Philippians 4:6 &7 Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your heart’s and minds through Christ Jesus. The main word being “thanksgiving” in verse six and “peace” in verse seven.
